How No Border Wall Caused a Homeless Crisis 2,500 Miles Away in Maine

Building a wall won’t just protect states that share a border with Mexico, but even states that share a border with Canada

When Americans think about border security, they usually imagine the floods of migrants crossing the border and showing up in Texas and Arizona. The illegal migrant crisis is at its worst in places like El Paso where gang members released by a broken immigration system swarm the streets. Limited border fencing had previously helped sharply cut crime rates in El Paso, but it doesn’t end in El Paso.
2,500 miles away, Portland, Maine is experiencing a crisis that redefines the nature of the problem and whom it impacts. Illegal border invaders aren’t just from this continent. Anyone who can fly into South America and make their way up to Mexico has a shot at crossing the border and invading America.

A 2013 survey found that 50% of the individuals in the shelter system were refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers or other foreigners. Of the 509 residents, 128 were Iraqis, 89 were Somalis, 47 were Sudanese. And then there were the Afghans and Eritreans. That’s Portland’s “homeless” problem.
Since then, the migrants have comprehensively displaced Maine homeless place from the system.

In 2018, 86% of the people in the shelter system were immigrants. By the end of the year, the number had climbed to a horrifying 90% with Maine families almost crowded out entirely.

Portland’s Democrat leaders have refused to maintain eligibility criteria for general assistance and spending has shot up to $10 million. The second biggest expense for GA is shelter beds.

1/3rd of Portland’s general assistance caseload consists of immigrants, many of them refugees.

"The Democrat machine has been busy down in Potland."

A good deal of Potland's continuum of leftist disasters can be laid at the feet/hooves of their very own putz mayor Prettyboy Strimling.......... Could it be that Potland's mascot is indeed a jackass?

As Portland stretches towards

As Portland stretches towards gentrification, housing has become unaffordable for most renters ,these folks have been pushed out to Lewiston ,Auburn and points further north like Rumford ,filling up section eight housing and for those who can afford it any regular rents. I see more and more refugees, immmgrants,or whatever you want to call them working in retail, filling jobs that our homegrown white trash wont take....If they want to come here become citizens , work and pay taxes in a state that is losing people and has an aging population it may not be the worst thing in the world.
Maybe I’m just an equal opportunity hater, but I could give a shit about supporting anyone from anywhere who comes here for a free lunch....that includes our home grown losers.

If these people are coming in

If these people are coming in for either welfare benefits or for low wage jobs...and yet Maine overall population remains stagnant - what does that mean is happening to Maine tax base? less people working? more low paying jobs? More section 8 housing in towns already struggling to survive but only development is untaxed property?

You're a little one sided there EDITOR, aren't you?
Your three or four "turds in the sand pile" can use just about any term they can dream up, yet you call me out for associating democrats with Nazis, which some clearly are.

There's only one solution to

There's only one solution to this growing problem of illegal immigration into our country, and President Trump is on the right track... and it starts by building a wall!

Please take a few minutes today and call the DC switchboard for Congress at 202-224-3121 to leave a message for Senators Collins and King. They need to hear from us, and they need to support funding the wall!

As difficult as this has

As difficult as this has become trying to secure funding to build only 100 miles of new barrier wall, imagine how hard it will be trying to get funding for the remaining 1,200 miles left to do. #justwalkaroundit

I believe Robert has

I believe Robert has identified a real issue for local communiites related to entire immigration/social service issues.
While all these housing programs are well intentioned the reality of them is often overlooked and their impact on a community.

Trump has a large percentage

Trump has a large percentage of the American people behind him.
That will make it much easier.
Just take a look at the polls after his border wall address.

So what is the exact figure

So what is the exact figure of the “ large percentage” who support the president’s position? What polls?

Links?

That's the strange part, Bong

That's the strange part, Bong Boy.
There were no polls published.
Could it be that the MSM wouldn't trot out any numbers because how well they showed the President was doing with the American people, no matter how biased the questions were?

Something Was Strangely Missing From Media Coverage of Trump’s Border Security Address

The media coverage following President Trump’s Oval Office address on Tuesday night seemed to be missing something. As expected, the Democrats criticized Trump and continued to blame him for the partial government shutdown. Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) called it “a degradation of the Oval Office.” The subsequent Chuck and Nancy show became the target of bipartisan derision. One liberal pundit said it looked as if Speaker Pelosi had been embalmed. Still, it was remarkable that no poll results were reported in the mainstream media coverage of the President’s first primetime address to the nation. Nowhere to be found were Frank Luntz and his traditional panel of independent voters.

Democrats are not fools. They must be conducting some polling of their own and are very aware of Trump’s growing support on this issue. Trump is fighting for the American people. The Democrats are fighting for power.

I'd look at the polls if they were in fact real, as you previously stated.

I'd also look at the polls claiming widespread support for your president, if they were indeed real.

Posting links to back up your assertions would make you seem somewhat credible.

They could create an accurate

They could create an accurate polll on building the wall.Let people for this years taxes have a box they could check that would dedicate their entire tax liability to building the wall.......I bet 5 billion would look like peanuts compared to what that number would generate..
They wouldn’t actually have to use the money but it would definitely show the support among the TAXPAYERS.

The glaring lack of polls

The glaring lack of polls speaks more about our President's support for building a barrier than any of the polls showing Hillary couldn't lose.

So now there is no poll, yet

So now there is no poll, yet previously you referred to polls showing support for your president’s actions.

Impressive.

A recent Rasmussen poll (Read it here) finds a presidential disapproval rate of 54%.

A majority of Americans do not approve of your president’s decisions. And that’s Rasmussen, hardly a leftist entity...

Since you don't seem to

Since you don't seem to already know this, TC, most media outlets in this country support the Far Left agenda.
